Following graduation from UNL in 1972 (BA Speech Communication), Alison worked and traveled in Europe and the Middle East for 18 months. Upon return, she began her career as a broadcast journalist for KLNG Radio (later KYNN and WOW). Alison also worked at the city administering community development block grants for the mayor's office. She joined OPPD's Public Relations Division in October 1979 as editor of the in-house employee magazine and was promoted to Publications Supervisor in 1983. Alison completed her MA in Communications in 1988. She was promoted in 1991 to Manager Facilities Services and Real Estate and to Division Manager Facilities Management in 2007. She is currently responsible for project construction, building operations and maintenance, building services (janitorial, food, recycling, mail), corporate security, and the transportation fleet. Alison is a mother of four children ages 32, 28, 25 and 19. She currently serves on the American Heart Association "Go Red For Women" Executive Committee, Downtown Omaha Master Plan Advisory Committee, and sings in the choir at Episcopal Church of the Resurrection.
