Mary A. Ferdig, Ph.D. is President of the Sustainability Leadership Institute.  Her group is an educational services nonprofit dedicated to expanding consciousness and capacity among leaders at every level in business, public and nonprofit sectors who share one thing in common –- a commitment to living and leading in ways that sustain life on Planet Earth. Dr. Ferdig has worked with leaders in a wide array of organizations for over 25 years to develop leadership capacity from the maintenance floor to the board room table with a common need to plan and implement strategic organizational change.

 

Dr. Ferdig’s practice is based on an emerging view of leadership grounded in complexity science and transformative change that has particular relevance in today’s increasingly complex, interconnected world. In addition to her leadership role with SLI, Dr. Ferdig currently teaches Leadership for Sustainability in the College of Public Affairs and Community Services at the University of Nebraska, Omaha. Ferdig has also taught leadership and communication courses in UNO’s School of Communication and at Benedictine University, Chicago, and served as External Examiner in the Complexity Management Centre’s Doctoral Program at University of Hertfordshire, England.
