“The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn.”

Developing leaders from the inside out. That's the design and philosophy of both the ICAN INFLUENCE and FOCUS programs. INFLUENCE (for women) and FOCUS(for men) are nine-month programs that help develop individuals who are recognized as potential key leaders in their organizations.

Personal assessment, skill building, character development and an extensive review of global forces shaping local, regional, national and international business are among the topics addressed in these programs. Beginning with a two-day retreat in September, the participants in each of these programs meet in six two-day sessions that end with a graduation ceremony in May.

INFLUENCE and FOCUS are designed and delivered by Geil Browning, Ph.D., president/owner of Emergenetics, LLC, and The Browning Group International, and Carol Hunter and Tim Rouse, founders of FGI International and affiliates of the world-recognized Center for Creative Leadership since 1982.

Selection Guidelines

Organizations that wish to nominate individuals for INFLUENCE or FOCUS may submit an application at www.icanomaha.org.  Selections are made by a committee in late spring for the upcoming programs.  Applicants are notified shortly thereafter.  Participants will:

  • Have a proven, excellent performance history with diverse career experiences to this point
  • Be seen as having the potential to contribute in much greater measure to the future success of their organizations
  • Be considered valuable resources for whom accelerated leadership development would be appropriate
  • Be persons who want to learn new things and have their thinking expanded
